eat healthyThe holidays happen to be a lot of fun but also very stressful and more so when you travel. The children might be crying and you might even have to put up with people yelling around you. Everyone is hungry and so you find a food vendor that happens to be near you and instantly grab those chicken fingers and fries that go with it. Might be $10 or more but its food and it keeps everyone happy.

What you might not think about is just how unhealthy it is to eat like that during the holidays. It can cause your immune system to drop and on top of that, could cause you to gain weight and have other health problems. However, you can eat healthy when you travel during the holidays.

5 Ways To Eat Healthy When You Travel During The Holidays

Come up with a food plan. Figure out when your plan will be leaving and what time it will arrive and see about any layovers. Eat a healthy meal at home and include some protein to help with keeping you going. If you are eating dinner as your last meal avoid food that might give you heartburn or indigestion because you might be on the plane for a long time and unable to move around. Pack healthy snacks with you so if there is an unexpected layover you won’t have to eat at the vendor.

Avoid junk food in the snack machine. In the past the snack machine was often times just loaded with junk food but now you can find some machines that have healthy snacks in them. Buy water instead of getting coke.

Write down what you eat when you travel. One of the best ways to stay healthy when you travel and during the holidays is by simply writing down what you eat and the time that you eat. If you don’t have time to write it down then buy a recorder and tape record the things that you eat.

Avoid having fried food. This might be very difficult to do when you’re out but fried food can be extremely unhealthy for you. It can be hard to digest and it might even make it hard for you to sleep at night.

Exercise during layovers and get plenty of liquids. It might be tempting to sit down and relax but use that time to walk around. When you’re done then get something healthy to drink such as tea or water.

Conclusion

Planning your trip out and packing healthy snacks helps you with not only eating healthy but at the same time it can even help with saving money. Relax, take a deep breath and plan on have a healthy holiday season.
